Turkic Chamber of Commerce and IndustryTurkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI) with headquarter in Istanbul was officially established in 2019 and composed of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry and business communities of the Member and Observer States.
TCCI is an essential mechanism of economic cooperation carried out under the umbrella of the Turkic Council and assigned by the Council of Heads of State to develop sustainable business programs and projects to increase intra-trade figures among the Member States.
TCCI has managed to organize a large-scale Business Forums on 5 October 2019 in Tashkent and on 15 October 2019 in Baku with the participation government officials as well as more than 500 businessmen.
TCCI, which has carried out important activities in a short time since its establishment, discussed the role that TCCI member Chambers and private sector can play in the online meeting on April 7, 2020, within the framework of the efforts of the Turkic Council countries to prevent the undesired effects of the COVID-19 epidemic, and it has prepared suggestions, which were presented to the Heads of State during the Extraordinary Summit of the Turkic Council held on 10 April 2020.
The Presidents of TCCI Member Chambers came together on 2 November 2020 in Baku with the theme of "A New Era of Social and Economic Development in Azerbaijan". Representatives of the Turkic Business World exchanged views on the socio-economic development of Azerbaijan's liberated lands in Karabakh. After the meeting, as an expression of the support of the Turkic World to the Azerbaijani people affected by the war in Karabakh, an Aid Supply Truck carrying supplies and equipment was sent to the city of Berde.
TCCI is a basic economic cooperation mechanism executed under the umbrella of the Turkic Council and assigned by Heads of State to develop sustainable business programs and projects between Member States to increase the trade volume for the region. In order to ensure the effective functioning of TCCI and its Secretariat in terms of personnel, logistics and other related issues, it is of great importance for this new economic institution to gain legal personality.
With this understanding, at the Baku Summit, the Presidents of the Turkic Council supported the process of TCCI gaining a legal status as an international organization. In this direction, the necessary initiatives are currently being carried out by TOBB before the relevant authorities of Turkey in order to establish an institutional structure for TCCI with a permanent Secretariat in Istanbul. As a result of this process, it is aimed to establish a legal infrastructure for TTSO member Chambers to send representatives to the Secretariat and to implement a permanent structure that will work uninterruptedly to further develop the relations among the private sector of the Turkic World.
Currently Kyrgyz Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kyrgyz CCI) and the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) agreed on cooperation in technical assistance on strengthening the Kyrgyz CCI. They also work for the organization of a large-scale Business Forum in Issyk-Kul.
