Taking into account the indivisibility of security, Member States regularly hold security consultations to discuss the issues of common concern in the field of security.
Three rounds of security consultations have taken place so far. This mechanism serves as a tool to further cooperation among the Member States on issues related to regional and international security. The relations of the Member States with Afghanistan, issues such as prevention of the violent extremism and countering the phenomenon of foreign terrorist fighters prevailed on the agenda of the last round of consultations hosted by Turkey on 6 February 2016 in Ankara. The Secretariat is currently undertaking the necessary preparations to hold the Fourth Round of Security Consultations in fourth quarter of 2021 in Bishkek.
